Beyoncé is on fire. According to Billboard Magazine, she's racked up numerous milestones in her career over the past 12 months, from appearances at the 2009 presidential inauguration to a worldwide tour grossing $53.5 million with no end in sight. Her latest album "I Am...Sasha Fierce" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 last November with a string of Billboard Hot 100 spin-offs, including "If I Were a Boy," "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" and "Sweet Dreams." After bestowing their annual Woman of the Year Award on Beyoncé earlier this month at a gala event in New York City, Billboard's editorial director Bill Werde quipped, "It is theoretically possible that someone on some other planet had a better year than Beyoncé, but I'm not buying it."

New guitar tones for Digital Performer 7

Digital Performer 7 is now shipping, and headlining the new features are eleven new guitar effects plug-ins that produce authentic guitar tones based on physical modeling technology that emulates classic stomp boxes, amps and cabinets. In seconds, you can start with a pedal, feed the signal to a custom amp, then run it through a vintage speaker cabinet. The result? Amazing tone, which you can then tweak until it's perfect. Or experiment with virtually infinite combinations in the signal chain. To get started, download these effects chains (as DP clippings) and drag and drop them onto your dry guitar tracks in Digital Performer 7.

In most cases, current versions of your MOTU software have already been made forward-compatible with Snow Leopard, including support for Mac OS X's latest advances in multi-threading and multi-processor operation. In other cases, MOTU software updates or driver updates are now (or soon to be) available to tame the new Snow Leopard in your Mac.

At the 2009 Grammy Awards, Dr. John won Best Contemporary Blues Album for City That Care Forgot (429 Records), which, according to Rolling Stone Magazine, "is the New Orleans soulman's impassioned lament about the natural destruction of Hurricane Katrina and the man-made tragedy of the aftermath. Over ominous funk ('Land Grab'), gospel-inflected blues ('You Might Be Surprised') and horn-boosted R&B ('Time for a Change'), Dr. John's bourbon-and-sandpaper vocals reflect the bitterness of a man who can sense that 'the smell of death still hangs on the honeysuckle vine.'" With guest-star appearances from Ani DiFranco, Willie Nelson, Terence Blanchard, and Eric Clapton, the album represents the latest of many accomplishments from Dr. John (aka Malcolm John "Mac" Rebennack, Jr.), a legendary artist whose career dates back to the 1950s. This Grammy-winning album was mixed entirely in Digital Performer by Jeff Jones, "The Jedi Master."
