Featured Plug-in: Universal Audio Plate 140
Digital Performer's included Plate plug-in is a favorite among DP users seeking that retro 'verb sound made famous by Wipeout and other rock and roll classics. But now, Universal Audio has introduced Plate 140, a new plug-in for the DSP-accelerated UAD-1 PCI card that delivers vintage plate reverb to the DP mixing environment with astonishing realism.
In 1957, German company EMT made a technological breakthrough with the release of the EMT 140, which employed a gigantic 4x8-foot, 600 pound, resonating metal plate to create ambience. The result was a highly sought-after wonderfully lush and distinctive reverb tone of that endures as part of the fabric of modern music.
Since most of us don't have the room for a 4x8 foot slab of steel in our studio, plates are usually found only in major studios. Universal Audio accurately recreates that unmistakable sound with Plate 140, which replicates the sonic signature of three uniquely different EMT 140s installed at The Plant Studios in Sausalito, CA. That’s nearly two thousand pounds of sound in one plug-in!
The plug-in design is closely based on real plate system components with additional controls for Digital Performer users. Along with the rest of the plug-ins in the UAD-1 lineup, Universal Audio once again delivers classic analog tools to your Digital Performer desktop at a great price.
Plate 140 requires a UAD-1 card. You can purchase Plate 140 and other UAD-1 plug-ins directly from Universal Audio.
