Support for Pro Tools 8

Maintaining its position as the leading audio sequencer software front end for Pro Tools HD, Digital Performer is fully qualified for use with Pro Tools 8 systems (DAE 8.0 to 8.03).

Pro Tools 8 support includes improvements in the following areas:

• Clip-based volume — Soundbite volume adjustments are now supported under DAE.
• Pitch automation — All of Digital Performer's in-track, real-time pitch automation features are now supported under DAE.
• Bus recording — Recording through busses is now supported.
• AudioSuite — AudioSuite support has been improved.

Support for the VST-RTAS wrapper from FXpansion™

You can use the VST-RTAS wrapper from FXpansion™ when running Digital Performer under DAE.

Plug-in automation

Fully automate any parameter for any TDM or RTAS plug-in. Draw filter sweeps, sync LFOs to the beat, record track mutes on the fly — harness the full power of your TDM mixing environment using Digital Performer's advanced plug-in mix automation features.

Plug-in latency compensation

Even under TDM, some plug-ins exhibit latency because of their very nature. But you can rest easy: Digital Performer provides complete plug-in latency compensation — automatically. Just load your plug-ins and go. Digital Performer takes care of the rest, with negligible effect on your TDM DSP resources.

Instrument support

Run all of your favorite TDM and RTAS instrument plug-ins and take full advantage of Digital Performer's many virtual instrument features, such as Freeze/Unfreeze tracks. Timing is ultra-accurate, thanks to Digital Performer's native support of Digidesign's DirectMIDI protocol.

RTAS and AudioSuite plug-in support

Use all of your favorite RTAS and AudioSuite plug-ins together with TDM plug-ins, just like in Pro Tools. Any plug-in that you can run in Pro Tools, you can also run in Digital Performer.

Mono and stereo sends

Create as many busses as you need in either mono or stereo (TDM resources permitting). And you can add up to 20 sends per track in the Mixing Board.

Fully automate TDM send levels and panning using Digital Performer's comprehensive mix automation features.

Automatic voice allocation

No more fiddling with DAE voice assignments. Digital Performer handles them for you.

DirectMIDI support

Digital Performer fully supports TDM and RTAS plug-ins that receive MIDI data, including: the click (accented/unaccented beats), MIDI Beat Clocks, MIDI Time Code, and meter/tempo information. For example, you can use the Digidesign Click plug-in, as well as other RTAS plug-ins that require tempo and metrical information. As another example, you can use the beat and tempo based features in the RTAS version of the Spectrasonics Stylus RMX virtual instrument.

QuickPunch support

Punch in and out of record as many times as you like during a record pass (up to 200 times in a single pass). Take full advantage of Digital Performer’s AutoRecord features.
