File Management

MachFive 2's file management features keep everything at your fingertips.

The upper left corner of MachFive 2 is the File Management Area. From the here you can call up, create, save, and name Performances, Presets, Samples or Oscillators, and Multi-Effect chains. When you save a Perfomance or Preset, you can reference the current samples or create new sample sets. This allows the most efficient creation and management of sounds, while making sure you never lose track of the elements of each Preset or Performance. Multi FX chains can be stored and recalled for Keygroup Inserts, Presets, Aux Returns, and Main Outputs.

Full Screen and Pop-up List Browser Views

The file browser can be displayed in a full-screen mode by double clicking. It can also be displayed as a pop-up list by click-and-hold. The File Browser works like your computer OS. The browser allows access to all your connected hard drives, networks, and mounted disk images. Find any sound or effect, anywhere, with a single click.

Parts and Performance

MachFive 2 gives you unlimited parts in a single instance, with powerful performance tools to make the most of them.

Add as many instrument parts as you like into a single MachFive 2 window. Assign up to 256 discrete MIDI input channels to Parts. Set individual output assignments, volume, and pan. Browse Presets directly from Parts. Enable or disable Disk Streaming independently for every Part.

Expert Mode

Set up MIDI key switches, velocity zones and key zones for powerful live control over multiple Parts.

Editors

MachFive 2's editors give you precise control of your instruments and loops.

From sample-level precision to quickly managing multi-layer presets, MachFive's Sample and Mapping Editors make instrument creation and management a breeze. Comprehensive loop editing controls in Loop Lab™ make using loops quicker and easier than ever. Drag and drop import, contextual menus, and key commands take your ideas from inception to realization in no time.

Expand the editors for detailed editing, or view them full screen for total control. Both editors feature unlimited undo and redo.

Keygroups

Control filters, LFOs, envelopes, and more for unlimited keygroups in every instrument and loop.

Every sample, oscillator and organ generator is a keygroup. Every Keygroup or loop can have its own LFOs, Filters, Envelopes, and Effects. Unlimited Multi-Point Envelopes can be created, stored, and recalled with a single click.

Loops

MachFive 2's Loop Lab™ provides powerful tools for your loops.

Drag and drop to import loops or audition loops synced to your host's tempo in MachFive's file browser.

Use sliced loops like REX and Apple Loops, or slice your own loops quickly and easily. Map slices to MIDI notes to remix your loops. Create MachFive presets from your sliced loops for further control with MachFive's Sample and Mapping Editors and advanced sound design tools.

Advanced time-stretching and pitch-shifting retain the highest quality while taking loops to extremes.

Drag and drop audio and MIDI from Loop Lab into your host sequencer for manipulation.

Any way you slice it, Loop Lab is an indispensable tool for your loops.

FX Rack

MachFive 2 ships with a wide range of studio quality audio effects.

The FX section is composed of four separate effects racks, each containing up to four effects. The FX Rack can provide effects for Keygroup Inserts, Presets, Aux Returns, and Master Outputs. In addition, every keygroup can have its own effect, and you can also apply effects to samples destructively.

Presets of individual effects or chains of effects – Multi FX – can be stored and recalled via the File Management Browser.

Mixer

MachFive 2 provides a comprehensive mixdown environment.

MachFive 2 allows you to customize its interface on the fly. Switch to the Mixer View to show Part VU meters, faders, panners, solo and mute buttons, output and sound selections, effects, inserts, and aux sends. Access the Aux Return and Master Effects section in the upper right corner. Clicking on an effect displays a graphic view of the effect parameters. Load presets, loops, and performances from within the Mixer.

Master Section

MachFive 2's Master section gives you the tools you need to work with unlimited parts quickly and effectively.

The upper right corner of MachFive 2 contains the Master Section with control for additional Part parameters. Set master volume and tuning. Set polyphony up to 256 notes per Part. Set octave, tuning, and transposition for each Part. Control Glide (portamento) and Velocity Curves per Part. View and edit Keygroups and Layers within Parts. Apply rules-based control to Layers.

Analyzer and Tuner

MachFive 2's spectrum analyzer and tuner give you feedback on the sonic content of your samples, presets, and performance.

Check the frequency response and tuning of your samples and synth patches.
