My MIDI interface isn't being recognized by my Intel-based Mac
First, make sure you've installed the latest MOTU MIDI drivers. You'll need driver version 1.32 or higher for Intel Mac compatibility. After installing the drivers & restarting your Mac, your MIDI interface should be seen in Audio MIDI Setup.
If your MIDI interface doesn't appear in Audio MIDI Setup, and you are using a MIDI Timepiece AV, or the MIDI Express XT or micro express models without removable rack ears, your unit may need a ROM update. Follow these steps to check:
- Go to /Applications/Utilities and open System Profiler.
- In the list on the lefthand side, click the triangle next to "Hardware" to expand the list to show all of your hardware options, then click on "USB".
- In the "USB Device Tree" section on the right, do you see your MIDI interface on any USB bus?
If the unit is seen here, please contact Tech Support, using "Intel Mac MIDI ROM" as the title of your Tech Link.
