Alan Steinberger / UltraLite AVB / Twitter Handle @alansteinberger

Hi Brian and Les,

I wanted to let you know that the new UltraLite AVB is stunning! I paired it with a brand new Airport Express to bring to sessions and the Hollywood Bowl, finally got it, a Roland rack unit, and various computers and iDevices all talking to each other, and it’s an amazing, super-portable setup.

I got a tremendous amount of mileage out of my UltraLite mk3, but this one just takes the feature set to another order of magnitude. The old one will get a place of honor in my well-stocked music emergency backup kit. :-)

Thanks again!

Alan

Keith Gourley / 16A / Website

Dear Motu: I just purchased and installed a 16A for my Hauptwerk virtual organ and I am truly thrilled with every aspect of the product. I look forward to adding another 16A to my setup in my next expansion.

You might want to consider “advertising” how suitable your multi “analog out” audio interfaces are for Hauptwerk (see Hauptwerk.com). I own Apogee and Universal Audio interfaces and your product takes the cake!

Please congratulate the engineers and designers for a fabulous products. I have been a fan of your midi gear for decades (I’m old now!) and I am a convert to your audio interfaces.

Kindest regards, Keith Gourley

I had the chance to run some stems out of both and was hard pressed to tell a difference. I've also A/Bd it directly with my Sig modded 002, which I have shot out extensively in the past with a symphony, and was once again hard pressed to hear a difference.

The nice thing is I just don't worry with this interface. It boots up, it's stable, it was affordable, it sounds UNREAL, it has no stupid built in pres, it's Thunderbolt, you can name it hilarious things and make it flash on the display, and it takes up a single (well it runs hot) rack space in my rig. I'm so happy with it.

16A user here, had the unit for 2 months, switched over from a lynx aurora. No complaints, solid drivers and the unit is simply one of those that you plug in and forget about, workflow with this is very smooth.

akeel / 16A / GearSlutz MOTU AVB Thread

Hi Sammix,

To provide some context...

The motu is being used to send 16 channels out into a desk. I have used the Lynx for a number of years and have never really had any major issues with it, maybe some small niggles here and there but nothing major. I was rather hesitant in switching to the Motu as I had gotten some negative feedback from a number of people as well as having read some bad reviews online (For older Motu units).

Ideally I needed upwards of 32 channels running out into the desk, cost wise this would have been a significant outlay on what is now a rather dated pair of Lynx units.

So I bit the bullet on the Motu and have not looked back. The sound quality to my ears (This is subjective, some people may completely agree and others may totally disagree) is Not a night and day difference, I would go so far as to say that they are definitely comparable. The lynx for me has a hyped High end although it definitely has a very open sound. The Motu on the other hand is very transparent and open while translating the lows well, the high end is less hyped. I believe this is a matter of taste rather than a simple "one is better than the other".

The bottom line for me was simply the pure value for money I was getting on what is "New technology" and a far greater number of channels of conversion.

I am now planning on adding a 24ao to the 16a, I believe this says it all...
